Nick Schneigert
Head Track and Field Coach
Schneigert was hired in 2013 to start up the Triton track and field program after a 20-year hiatus and brings several years of coaching experience in the youth, high school, and college levels.
In his first season at Triton, Schneigert built a program that experienced success both on and off the track. He was able to put together a team that had six national qualifiers that competed in the 1500 meters, the 5000 meters, the 1600 meter relay, and the 3200 meter relay. Off the track, Schneigert is a big advocate in academics and both the men's and women's programs flourished in the classroom with the majority of athletes receiving grade point averages of 3.0 or higher. Bridget Reinhard, one of only two sophomores on the team, received the Superior Academic Achievement Award and was named NJCAA Academic All-American.
Before Triton, Schneigert was as an assistant coach at Geneva High School in 2013 and helped coach the the boy's side to its first IHSA 3A Sectional Championships. Geneva went on to qualify several of its athletes to the IHSA 3A State Championships.
From 2011 until 2013, Schneigert was the assistant volunteer coach at Rockford University (formerly Rockford College) under head coach Chad Zeman where he helped coach both the men's and women's cross country and track programs. As a volunteer coach, Schneigert put in a lot of time recruiting where in 2012 they landed the largest recruiting class in the history of the school. Schneigert had many duties helping the cross country team where there he helped several receive Northern Athletics Conference All-Conference Honors. On the track side, he has many responsibilities including coaching several hurdlers, sprinters, and jumpers. While at Rockford College, he was also the assistant site coordinator for the USATF Level 1 coaching certification courses.
Schneigert is heavily involved with the U.S. Track and Field Association (USATF). Coaching youth since 2011, he started his own youth club called the Vikings Track Club in 2013 where he serves as the executive director and head coach. Most of the athletes are from high schools in the Chicago area and has consistently qualified several to the USATF National Junior Olympic National Championships every year for both the outdoor and indoor seasons.
Schneigert received his USATF Level 1 coaching certification from Cheney University in 2011. In 2013 he received his USATF Level 2 coaching certification with an emphasis in youth at the University of North Carolina - Greensboro. In 2014 he received his USATF Level 2 coaching certification in jumps at Marian University.
As an athlete, Schneigert competed for the All-Navy track and field team in the west coast while he was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk in the Navy from 1995 until 1999. As a sprinter/mid-distance athlete, Schneigert competed at various NCAA college meets and open meets while he was not on duty. He graduated from Streamwood High School in 1995 where he was also versatile athlete and found success in the sprints, mid-distance, and jumps.
Schneigert received his bachelors of arts at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he studied radio and television with an emphasis in news broadcasting. He minored in public relations. When he was a junior, he was called up to the military for one year and served with the Naval Security Force - Bahrain for one year after the horrific events of 9/11. He received his second honorable discharge in June of 2002.

Shane Petrelli
Assistant Track and Field Coach
Coach Petrelli brings many years of experience coaching throws to the Triton staff. Petrelli coached the throwers at St. Patrick High School (Chicago, IL) during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. In 2005, Petrelli helped lead 2- state qualifiers in the shot-put, one of which was a sophomore and one qualifier in the discus whom was also a sophomore. Following the success of the 2005 season Petrelli helped guide a state qualifier in the shot put and another one in the discus during the 2006 season.
Petrelli also coached at Lakes Community High School (Lake Villa, IL) during the 2010 season. During Petrelli's time at Lakes, he helped guide an athlete to an all-state title in the shot-put finishing 3rd in Illinois and the same athlete finishing with All-State honors in the discus with a 4th place finish. Petrelli also helped develop another thrower who qualified for state in the Discus in 2010.
As a student- Athlete, Petrelli competed in Football and Track and Field all four years at D-III North Park University (Chicago, IL). He is also a local athlete graduating from Elmwood Park High School in 2001. While at Elmwood Park, Petrelli competed in Football, Wrestling, and Track & Field throughout his High School career, earning the Terry Ray memorial award for excellence in athletics. Petrelli exemplified his leadership with a strong presence and work ethic in the classroom, weight-room and around campus. Petrelli brings a B.A. in Exercise Science with him and 15 Credit hours in Human Performance towards his M.A. to the Triton staff. He is also a American Sport Education Program (ASEP) certified coach from 2005.
Away from Triton he enjoys staying active with as many lifelong activities as he can. Petrelli works as a project manager for a sign company out of Elmhurst.
